Barranquilla Carnival



The Carnival of Barranquilla is the most important holiday ofBarranquilla and one of the most renowned in the world. More thana million and half people, including locals and visitors annually participate in the festival, which takes place from Saturday through Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, usually in February andsometimes early March . Has a tradition of over a hundred years.The carnival season begins the second Saturday of January, whenpublic holidays begin and festivities, however, other activities directly related to the carnival happen for most of year.1

Carnival is a cultural event which express and represent all culturalvarieties of the Caribbean Coast, it unleashes the folklore of theregion, the most diverse local cultural events, music and dancing. It is, undoubtedly, the most representative of the city, an entertainment area that annually attracts locals and visitors.Therefore, the renowned broadcaster and journalist Marco PérezCaicedo, said: "He died Pindanga, what mourning or what the hell,long live the carnival!".
